The approval of said amount came about through a resolution of the Aklan Provincial Development Council (PDC) requesting that said fund be included in the Annual Investment Program of the province. The PDC is chaired by Governor Florencio T. Miraflores.
Based on the resolution, P195 million of the total amount will be utilized to buy anti-COVID-19 vaccines, P5 million will be used to buy refrigerators and syringes, while the P21 million will be used to buy 7 units of ambulance.
Earlier, Governor Miraflores said the provincial government has coordinated already with the company AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals as source of the vaccines.
Once available, the province targets to vaccinate 70% of Aklan's population or 420,000 residents, composed of health care and medical workers, indigent families, Pantawid Pamilya families, and the uniformed personnel.
