Dublin Airport passenger had half million euro worth of drugs in luggage

Garda have arrested a man, following a seizure of drugs by Revenue Customs Service.
During the course of the search approximately 27kg of suspected cannabis was found.
The man, aged in his 60s, was arrested and taken to a Garda Station in North County Dublin.

DUBLIN, Ireland - Investigations are continuing into Sunday night's drama at Dublin Airport when a man tried to smuggle more than half a million euro worth of drugs in his luggage.

The drugs were seized by Revenue Customs Service after the man's luggage was searched.

The man was subsequently arrested and taken to a Garda Station in North County Dublin.

The saga began to unfold around 5:00pm late Sunday afternoon when the man who arrived at Dublin Airport was stopped by Revenue Customs officers, and a search of his luggage was initiated.

During the course of the search, approximately 27kg of cannabis was found. The value of drugs seized is estimated at €540,000.

The man arrested, who is aged in his 60s, remains detained while investigations continue.
